Our archive preserves the physical history of a Colt Model 1911 US Navy bearing serial number 570, which was acquired directly from his heirs. The weapon is historically documented within the first-ever U.S. Navy contract delivery block from March 1912, a group encompassing serial numbers 501 through 1000.

While factory ledgers stop at the delivery block, its provenance is preserved by its accompanying field gear. The rig includes an early production first-pattern M1912 leather holster featuring a hand-written name and this exact serial number, paired with a rare c. 1910 pattern cartridge web belt. This intact rig represents a continuous line of naval heritage, having been passed down to Lennox by an older Lieutenant Commander who served from 1916 to 1945 and had originally enlisted him into the naval service.
