Lieutenant Commander Burt C. Warner was the Commanding Officer of the 19th Fleet Division, 5th Bat, Hartford, CT. He served on the battleship USS Georgia during WWI, and the CT Naval Militia / US Navy from 1916-1945.

Physical provenance connects this weapon to a continuous line of naval service heritage. As documented by his hand-written name and this matching pistol serial number inside an early 1912 leather holster rig, Lieutenant Commander Warner originally carried this gear. He later passed the sidearm and rig to a second officer—Lieutenant Commander Alexander Lennox Jr.—a man whom Warner had originally enlisted into the naval service and who carried its history forward through 1961.
By 1941, military personnel records document Warner's continued administrative and operational leadership leading into World War II.
